Doing the Beautiful
These four talks cover the topics of Ihsan, which is translated as “Doing the Beautiful” and understood as, “Worshiping God as if you see God, and if you do not see Them, They nevertheless see you”; the stages, or valleys of the path as described in Attar’s classic text The Conference of the Birds; and the four traditional stages of the nafs, or “lower self” the seeker moves through on the mystical journey.
The Radical Intimacy of Spiritual Ecology
This talk, given at St. Ethelburga’s Centre for Reconciliation and Peace in London, delves into the transformative practice of spiritual ecology. It emphasizes awakening a deep, primordial memory of the Earth as a sacred, living being—a radical act in a culture that has largely forgotten this sacred connection. Remembering our intimate relationship with the Earth is a vital spiritual responsibility of our time. By recognizing and embracing this truth in our hearts, we sustain a practice of love and care for the suffering Earth—a being we are, and have always been, inherently part of.
Stories for a Living Future—Series 4: My Own Story
The stories for this fourth series came unexpectedly as Spring turned to early Summer. Although they include the story of the Earth and our shared journey together, they are more autobiographical, more directly mystical. They speak about the light and love that have been central to Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee’s own journey in recent years.
Lover and Beloved
Sufism is a mystical path of love. The Sufi is a traveler on the path of love, a wayfarer journeying back to God through the mysteries of the heart. For the Sufi the relationship to God is that of lover and Beloved, and Sufis are known as lovers of God. As Rumi wrote:
The minute I heard my first love story
I started looking for you, not knowing
how blind that was.
Lovers don’t finally meet somewhere.
They’re in each other all along.
For Love of the Real
At the root of every mystical calling is the search for what is Real. For Love of the Real follows this call, detailing the inner journey to Absolute Truth. This book responds to the vital need for humanity to remember its own divine nature and restore mystical truth as the foundation of our inner and outer lives. Based upon forty years of following the mystical path, Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee grounds this work in his own inner experiences and spiritual scripture. This is an intense evocation of the contribution that spiritual awareness can make, a clear and compelling call for humanity to return to the Real.
